GOLF ROUNDUP: Somonauk golfers claim boys, girls victories

Somonauk's two golf teams both recorded wins Thursday, as the girls defeated Sanwich and the boys scored a triumph over Amboy.

Boys golf

Somonauk 179, Amboy 204

At Shady Oaks, the Bobcats scored the victory, taking the wins out of the Clippers' sails behind a team-leading nine-hole score of 41 from Aaron Hargrave. Alex Moyer's 44, Tom Burton;s 45 and Alec Chism's 49 rounded out Somonauk's four-man total.

Amboy's Griffin Kozeal was the day's medalist with an impressive round of 35.

Girls golf

Somonauk 196, Sandwich 237

At Edgebrook, the Lady Bobcats received a nine-hole medalist round of 40 from Jessica Schultz and a runner-up score of 41 from Amy Swanson to win their dual-play opener over the Lady Indians. Kelly Zielezinski's 55 and Abbey race's 60 rounded out the Somonauk team scorecard.

Leading scorers for Sandwich were not reported.
